When and how did you get your start in the industry? (year, where, etc..,)

I started working at The Hair Company in 2010 as a receptionist. It wasn't very long until I fell in love with the industry and soon after became an apprentice under the owner of The Hair Company, Jackie.

Why did you choose the beauty industry?

I love to make people look and feel their best. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than giving a client a "self confidence boost" just by coming to see me.

What do you love about working at The Hair Company?

I love to make people look and feel their best. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than giving a client a "self confidence boost" just by coming to see me.

Tell us about you… Spouse/Significant other, Kids, Family, Pets, etc..,

I am 27. I was born and raised in a small (very country) town in 7th District (you might hear it in my accent every once in awhile). I have an amazing boyfriend named Matt, he's a Ship Captain contracted by the Navy. I'm lucky enough to have his sweet 12 year old daughter/my "little bestie", Alaina, in my life as well. I also have an unbelievably spoiled Olde English Bulldog named Lola Faith.

What do you like to do on your days off?

On my days off I'm usually on the water. Whether it's kayaking, fishing/crabbing, or just joy riding on the boat. I grew up a waterman's daughter and lived on the water my whole life, you just can't keep me away from it! When I'm not doing that I love to cook. A huge stress reliever of mine is to pour myself a glass of wine and make a new dish I've never made before.

Favorite services to offer.....

I would say my favorite service to offer is coloring hair, especially blondes! I'm super particular when it comes to the tone of my blondies. Most of my clientele are blondes and in my opinion it takes a blonde (like myself) to know a blonde.

Products you can't live without.....

I can't live without my Redken Color Extend Blondage Shampoo! I have well water at my house (well water tends to make hair turn brassy) and that purple shampoo is a MUST HAVE to keep my blonde nice and icy.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

As a stylist, I get to have that special connection between a person's inner and outer self. I make a person feel amazing on the outside which reflects their self esteem and happiness on the inside. There is nothing more inspiring and rewarding to me.

If I weren't so damn good at my job, I'd probably be......... A Flight Attendant! I love to travel and see new places.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you…  1. I skydived for my 25th birthday..   2. I have my boaters license. 3. All the vehicles I've ever owned have been stick shift sport cars.

How do you want people to remember you?  As the person who can genuinely get along with anyone.

Who is someone you admire, and why?   My Father. He is an extremely hardworking, kindhearted, selfless man, with the patience of a Saint. I am the person I am today because of that man.

Favorite quote:  "You can never be overdressed or overeducated."

What advice would you give to recent new stylist?  Never give up. Even on your bad days. Because the good days definitely, by far, outweigh the bad.

When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a  .The 6th member of The Spice Girls or a NASCAR driver! (And if you saw my current driving record, you'd see I quite possibly missed my calling. Lol!). when I grew up.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve...... National "Netflix and Sweatpants" Day. A whole day where you do nothing but wear comfy clothes and binge watch Netflix all day....Because who doesn't need a day like that?!

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was.....    A millionaire because I have the taste of one. lol

If we went to happy hour, what would you order.......  Bud Light and boneless wings. It's the way to my heart.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?   To stay in an overwater bungalow resort in Bora Bora!

Cats or Dogs?   DOGS

What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?    The Bachelor/Bachelorette.

What places have you lived in?  Only good old St. Mary's!

What one food do you wish had zero calories?   Donuts are my kryptonite!

What music is on your phone?  A little bit of everything! I can go from a country redneck to a hood rat in no time.

What is your hidden talent?   I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime and any place. I just love to sleep.

What is your favorite sport or sports team?    I love watching football and baseball. I'm a Redskins and Orioles kinda gal!

What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?   When I went on a trip to Ireland, I had black pudding. If you don't know what that is, google it.....I wish I had.

What is one thing you can't live without?   Coffee.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?   A mansion on the water! Big enough for all my family and friends to live with me.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?  1. An endless supply of wine,    2. My boyfriend ,   3. BUG SPRAY! Mosquitos love me.

Favorite travel spot?  Costa Rica!

Do you have an office nickname? What is it? Where did it come from? My girlfriends call me LaurLaur, LaurMorr/L-Mo (half of my first and last name), or Selby (My middle name).

Messy or Organized?  ORGANIZED

Before working at The Hair Company, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?   Working at Crabknockers in Leonardtown. I did every thing from culling crabs to cooking/working register/taking orders. It wasn't the most glamorous job but it definitely taught me a hard day's work and good customer service.
